Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most famous parks.

About Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is one of Africa’s most famous parks. The word Serengeti means “endless plains” in the local Maasai language, and when you see the wide open grasslands, you understand why. The park covers nearly 15,000 square kilometers, making it bigger than some countries.

The Serengeti is best known for the Great Wildebeest Migration. Each year, more than two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles travel across the plains in search of fresh grass. This is the largest animal movement on earth and one of nature’s greatest shows. Along the way, predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and crocodiles wait for their chance to hunt.

But the Serengeti is not only about the migration. It is also home to elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, and over 500 species of birds. The landscape is varied: rolling savannahs, rocky outcrops known as kopjes, river valleys, and woodlands. Every part of the park feels different and holds surprises.

For visitors, the Serengeti is more than just a place to see animals. It is a place where you feel the scale of nature — the silence of the plains, the power of predators, and the beauty of African sunsets. Spending a few days here allows you to understand why it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a dream for travelers around the world.
